Edouard de BUYERThe Wildsteer Company was founded in December 2004 in order to develop, manufacture and sell its own knives. The first model introduced was the “Wildsteer”, the now popular knife for Archers, designed by Edouard de Buyer, an active practitioner of outdoor Archery and Forging.
The original design process has made the Wildsteer knife not only extremely efficient for archers, but also highly efficient for outdoor life and survival with such features as: chiselling wood, slashing, cutting stakes, chamfering, preparing games and etc.
The outstanding properties of the Wildsteer knife come mainly from its unique construction as it is made from a single forged piece of very robust Stainless Steel.
It is thanks to this extraordinary construction process and design that the Wildsteer knife is extremely well balanced, which, considering its reasonable size (blade length of 11.5cm, 4.5 inches), makes it highly efficient as it is able to absorb and provide a large amount of energy. Then it is a real must, when used as an axe or as a scissor, in wich case, the very particular laced leather handle, with its warm and soft touch, absorbs any and all vibration.

Extraire une flècheExtracting an arrow accidentally shot in a tree with a powerful bow is the nightmare of the Archer as nothing specifically exists to do this operation quickly and efficiently, or you run the risk of damaging your arrow or breaking the point of your knife.

As the number of outdoor archers is increasing in France and in Europe and is already very big in the US, the idea naturally came to design a product dedicated to outdoor archery and arrow extraction. %%% Then, in order to get the most efficient knife, 10 prototypes were forged and tested in all configurations by Edouard, in order to check the efficiency of the extraction device (extractor) in every possible case, check the scissor point, check the balancing and optimize the weight of the knife and check and all the characteristics of the knife at work. The optimized characteristics and weight of the Wildsteer knife has made it as easy to use for a man as for a woman.
Danielle de BUYERAs a result, the Wildsteer knife was patented in 2004 and the design was finalized thanks to the use of CAD/CAM design and optimization techniques and the use of the forging and knife-making know-how available at Thiers, the well-known knife Capital in France.

Then Danielle de Buyer, mechanical engineer as well, decided to get into the adventure and took the leadership of the newly created Wildsteer Company.

The Wildtseer knife was quickly adopted by the practitioners and it was then decided to introduce new products and knifes in order to complete the range of outdoor products. Then the “Firesteel®“ was introduced, the “Survival wallet”, the coordinated Wildsteer belt, the Flask and maintenances kits.

Baby WildIn February 2007 the “Baby Wild” a robust small one piece knife for day to day use was introduced in different blade steel and finish (carbon Steel, Damas carbon, Sandvik® cryogenic treated steel), with a high quality leather handle and sheath.

In November 2007, the “WILD TECH” knife was introduced, with an innovative design specifically adapted for all outdoor sportive activities such as, mountain, water sports, trekking, bike... The very ergonomic and versatile injection moulded sheath, make the “Wild Tech” easily clickable and adjustable on your belt and make it very easily usable in any situation. The integrated Silva® Compass is also of a great help on he field. For extreme situations, the water resistant blade and handle are a must, as well as the safety Karabiner that enables to lock the knife on the sheath in order not to loose it.

Other product developments are in process, and we will be very happy to listen to your suggestions and ideas and share our passion with you. Feel free to visit our web-site and contact us, and enjoy your visit.
